The Joy of Using a Sensory Brush- the Wilbarger Technique
Benefits:
-calming effect when brushed slowly and firmly
-alerting effect when brushed fast and lightly
Technique:
*Wilbarger brushing is used or applied before putting on lotion for massage.
*Bristles of the brush should bend when brush is pressed on the arm or leg.
*Start from the top of one shoulder going down to the hands:
Purpose is to calm-slow and firm in one continuous stroke or flow from the shoulder down to the hand and fingers, enveloping the whole arm, top first, then side, then back, then under.
-Purpose is to alert-fast, light and short strokes from the top of the shoulders down to the hand and fingers, enveloping the whole arm, top first, then side, then back, then under.
*Do the massage either milking technique or long and slow massage.
*Apply the joint compression on the shoulders, elbows, wrist, and fingers.
* do the same thing to the legs starting from the top of the leg but bypassing the middle or inner thighs due to sensitivity down to the ankles, feet and toes.
